What is it? I’m asked every time I’m out and about on the Copenhagen Wheel. It’s a wheel that turns a normal bike into an e-bike and works on just about any bike with rim breaks. I’ve been having a lot of fun riding around on it and getting to know more about e-bikes.
The Brompton folding bike was invented in West London and is still built in West London today in their new factory. When Brompton asked if I would like to visit their factory, being the curious person I am I had to say yes. I was pretty impressed to see how much of the bike is actually made at the factory and how many custom parts go into making this bike. Brompton continually test and look for ways to improve their bike. This year they have produced their first e-bike version of the Brompton which I got the chance to take for a quick spin as the grand finale of my tour.
It’s Bike Week in the UK this week, so I thought I would share with you 5 of the reasons why I cycle commute to inspire you to give it a try too.
One of the great things about being part of #TeamRutland is the opportunity to get to try new things. So when I was asked if I would be interested in having a Brompton Ultralight for a week I couldn’t say no, I’d recently rented one for a weekend and really enjoyed (you can watch that video here). This time I would be switching out my Brodie bike that I normally commute on for the Brompton.
Watch the video to see my Brompton experience and find out 5 of the reasons why I cycle to work.
Did you know you can rent Brompton bikes all around the UK? I didn’t either until recently and I decided to make the most of it to get a chance to take a new kind of bike for a spin. My first attempt at renting a Brompton on a visit to Manchester failed but there’s a Brompton rental locker (yes they live in lockers) near where I live here in London. So on a beautiful sunny day I went and picked up the Brompton I’d reserved online and headed home with it for the weekend. It turned out to be very handy to have a spare bike in the house because Nathan had a problem with the wheel of his commuter bike. It amazes me there’s a bike out there we can both ride. Check out the video to see what riding a Brompton is all about.
If you saw my previous video you will know I’ve been bike shopping. I managed to narrow down to 3 bikes, then had 2 of them eliminated for various reasons leaving me with the Canyon WMN Endurance AL 8.0 bike as my first choice bike, or so I thought until I went on a test ride at a Canyon weekend in Surrey. Find out what happened:
Buying a new bike is exciting but it can also be a bit daunting. There are so many different bikes and a lot of jargon. In this week’s video I go over the 5 easy steps I use to narrow it down and create a short list of bikes to to test ride.
Check out which bike I test rode and what bike I’ve decided on in part 2:
